Bart Mellish is the State Member for Aspley in the Queensland Parliament and currently sits on the Transport and Public Works Committee.
The Aspley electorate consists of large parts of the suburbs of Geebung, Zillmere, Carseldine, McDowall, Chermside West, Bridgeman Downs, Bald Hills, Aspley itself and a very small part of Albany Creek.
Bart is passionate about furthering the opportunities of people in the area and ensuring our community remains a great place to live now and into the future.
This means promoting the economic development of the Aspley electorate and boosting local employment opportunities, whilst also ensuring that local health facilities, schools and transport infrastructure are being properly funded.
Bart holds a Bachelor of Science, a Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Management and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland.
Prior to being elected the Member for Aspley, Bart has worked as an environmental scientist, an environmental consultant and a policy manager in the transport industry.
Bart lives in the electorate with his wife and two dogs and is proud to be the patron of many community groups, sporting and services clubs in the area. He is a keen rugby league, football, basketball and other sports fan (and sometimes participant) and is a proud promoter of new sporting infrastructure in the area.
